Filming - Day 4 [Aug. 12th, 2004|01:06 am]

Well, we finally hit the over-halfway mark!

The good things that happened today

1. Once again, everyone was there, and acted very well.

2. We didnt break anything that wasnt meant to be broken.

3. We got the things to break that needed to be broken.

4. We filmed everything that we needed to film.

Things that didnt go so well today

1. Microphone problems. (a)We filmed 2 shots that didnt have any sound, due to the cord coming unplugged. (b) For some reason, when we held the microphone by the light fixture, it made a loud buzzing sound on the footage. We found the problem with "A" before it became a big problem, but "B" will just have to stay there. We dont have the time to go back and refilm an entire day.

2. Script/Contintuidy errors. We realized while filming today, that the lead female character was susposed to drink an entire cup of coffee in under 2 lines. Then, she is served another cup, drinks a sip, and drops it. BUT! On camera, the coffee cup is totally empty. It looks good, but doesnt make sense. It was ghetto-fab.

--

I also realized today, that I am not going to be able to film in the day, then go to work, then come home and edit what we filmed earlier, then wake up and do it again.

So, the new plan is to stick to the filming schedule, and once filming is all over, I will piece it all together. This will make it come out a little later than I was planning, but it needs to happen this way.

Tomorrow will be Day 5 filming, and the last day of this week.

Tuesday night at 8pm, we are holding the "Party" scene. If you want to be part of this, e-mail me, or reply to this entry!

Day 3:

Today was the longest day of filming thus far.

By the end of the day, we were very hot and sweaty.

THE GOOD THINGS THAT HAPPENED TODAY:

1. Everybody showed up, and all had a great attitude.

2. We did 2 1/2 scenes, and they looked really good on camera.

3. We are STILL on schedule! No set-backs thus far.

4. Nobody got hurt falling over!

THE BAD THINGS THAT HAPPENED TODAY:

1. During an action sequence, Sean House destroyed our main prop. (It was fixed later)

2. Lets just say "Microphone getting into several shots" is usually not a good thing.

3. THIS IS SUSPOSED TO BE THE DEAD OF WINTER, and there is sun! AND I HEAR BIRDS IN THE BACKGROUND!!!!!! (not really... just a line from the movie.) I am just complaining because the first day, it was raining, so the actors wore rain-clothes. Now, it is freaking sunny and hot outside, and they are burning up. They are troopers.

Tomorrow is our first day of shooting INSIDE! I hope we get everything done.

Filming - Day 2:

Even though we were in the rain on Day 1, we had everything we needed for the first day. We also got all the footage we needed for today.

We decided to take today off.

But! After reviewing the footage from friday, we saw that we rushed a scene, and did not get what we wanted. So, today Mark, Tone, and I went out to the location, and re-filmed.

It turned out pretty good.

Tomorrow will be the first day that dialog really matters. Lets see how well these people can act.

Day 1:

Here is a picture of one scene:

Holy crap, does mother nature not want this movie to be made. Rain rain and more rain covered our project.

On film, it looked really nice. But, being out there, sucked. Lets just hope that the rest of the weather is going to be overcast like this.

I would like to thank Mark and Brenda for being such good sports. They fell on the ground several times, and were very wet at the end. I love you guys.

Bryce quickly found out that my home-made "clapper" does not like the rain. Paint went.... everywhere.

After the day of wet shooting, everybody went home, and put on dry clothes.

Tone came over shortly after, and we reviewed the footage. There was some pretty nice shots, but alot of not-so-good shots, too. But, once again we were really rushed.

We got 2 days worth of filming done in 1 day. I still think we should of taken a longer time down at our first location, but it will turn out alright.

Next day of filming will either be monday or Tuesday, depending when Mark comes back from Seattle.1

Day 0 - Day before thoughts.... [Aug. 5th, 2004|11:54 pm]

Day Before shooting:

We have come a long way with this movie. It is kind of hard to belived that about a month ago, we were talking about doing a live-action LiveJournal movie. Then, we decided to make a movie off of my short story. A story that was written on one of my first websites.

The script is now 21 pages long, and we are finally going to record tomorrow.

I hope that the actors and crew will all be able to wake up and show up on all the days we need. There are only 6 people in the entire cast, minus the extras that we will need on Aug. 17th.

Ryan Tone is the co-writer, and my right-hand man on the set. We were also the 2 main people on my last movie, "The Movie."

After reading the script a few times, I realize that it was really slopped together, format wise. But, it will do for what we are doing.

I went out today, and bought 20 more feet of cable for the microphone, and 10 DVD cases.

Well! Tomorrow is the first day of shooting. We are filming scenes 1, 8, and 12. I am still ________ frusterated.
